1-244 Aviation Regiment is ready to fight

Maj. Gen. Bennett C. Landreneau, Adjutant General, Louisiana Army National Guard, visits with Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 244th Aviation Regiment (Assault) after the unit’s deployment ceremony June 11 at the Fort Sill Polo Field. 1-244 AVN completed 50 days of individual and collective air and ground training and is prepared to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Fort Sill, Okla. – 1st Battalion, 244th Aviation Regiment (Assault) conducted its deployment ceremony at Fort Sill’s Polo Field on June 11.

After 50 days of individual and collective air and ground training, this Louisiana Army National Guard unit, of about 400 Soldiers, is prepared to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

1-244 AVN is in its third deployment within the last five years.
Maj. Gen. Bennett C. Landreneau, Adjutant General for the Louisiana Army National Guard, addressed the Soldiers and thanked them for their patriotism and service.
