Commander's Corner
Greetings to all the Friends and Family of HHC, Task Force 34! We have now been at our duty stations here at Joint Base Balad, Iraq for approximately two months. We are getting use to our daily routines. The nice thing about our area is that just about everything you need is within walking distance. You can walk from your living quarters to the chow hall and then to work all in about ten to fifteen minutes. Some of our Solders work day shifts and others work night shifts. Most Soldiers work six days a week and get one day off. While not working here in Balad, there are many activities available to pass the time. Some of our Soldiers are on sport teams such as softball. Others run in the weekly road races that are offered by MWR.
We have been enjoying the fall weather. Upon our arrival in August temperatures were as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Lately temperatures have been in the 70s. We have had some rain which got rid of our dust problem but brought it brought with it another mess.…MUD! For Halloween, the company had a social. It was a nice time to burn of some steam, many of us dressed in costumes and we had music and refreshments.
Overall, I’m very proud of all the hard work and dedicated service of our Soldiers. We appreciate all the support and encouragement that we have received from all our family and friends. Without your support we would not be as successful as we have been. Thank you all for your continued support.
